WOW! That takes me back to the original version of "Green Door" I once won a tiepin for knowing the title in a "Spot Waltz" at the local Palais de Dance. Can't remember who made the original (1958/59?). One more for Google.
'Twas FRANKIE VAUGHAN . . who enjoyed a distinguished career both as a singer, showbiz personality and citizen, being considered worthy of both the O.B.E and C.B.E.
"It was a different day and age for sure in 1956. Jim Lowe, a disc jockey by trade and part-time country and novelty tune songwriter enters a Greenwich Village apartment and records a song he has written, "Green Door", and it goes all the way to #1 in September and stays on the charts for an astounding 22 weeks. It took Elvis and "Love Me Tender" to knock "Green Door" from its #1 spot."
Brian . . there is inter alia "an eyeball peeping through a smoky cloud behind the green door." Oooerrr! They don't write 'em like that these days. Fun blog, this is!
Yes...Trellis! So definitely perfectly memorable in a green-doorish kind of way~my hub is singing it now! Will have to youtube the original vesion...personally, to me, (who else?) I think it looks like "The Shadow", kermit de frog or Door Number 2? Great imagination to zoom in on the green door like this...very personified now!
