The lady smiles, and dreams of love. I see
a mystery in eyes that look away
at secret scenes in her imagination.
I would that Ada sometimes showered me
with glances that would all my fears allay
without the need for further confrontation.
Alas, I fear that this will never be.
Beloved likes too well to have her say -
which often sends me into hibernation!
This famous portrait was Tess kincaid's choice for her Magpie #59 prompt, and we all know how a lady's smile beguiles!
Cad . . Mrs. Trellis's fizzog suggest a different title for your excellent post. How about "My Moaner"?
ReplyDeleteOh my, Mrs. Trellis is no Mona Lisa....hibernation may be the best course of action. Clever take. Vb
ReplyDeleteYou always put a smile on MY face!
ReplyDeletePoor Cad, all your best efforts spurned.
ReplyDeleteAh well, there's always poetry.
It sounds like hibernation is your best bet. I enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteCad, it might be time to run! I think Moaner is about to say, "Guess what! I'm pregnant!"
ReplyDeleteDo you think that could also be the reason Ada has been a little er... self possessed lately?
Hahaha! Most amusing this fine Thursday morn!
ReplyDeleteSuch a "proper" sounding post. I found it quite lovely. (It seemed to require a proper response LOL)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.

Quite frankly, Sir, I adore Ada. She clearly keeps you in check, protects you from yourself, as it were.
ReplyDeleteBear up Cad. It beats bearing down! I enjoyed your poem.
ReplyDeleteSo funny!
ReplyDeleteps, I think Mona, judging from her age, is thinking "Giocondo, leave your sister Marietta alone. Francesco, go pick up your sister. Giocondo, put that down. Put..that...sorry, Maestro deVinci."
ReplyDeleteAh, "the look." My husband knows it well too!
ReplyDeleteRelatable, enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI like that. Very nice job.

ReplyDeleteHibernation? To the shed perhaps? Another good one! You too wrote two this week!! Me too!
ReplyDeleteHa ha...funny. I quite enjoyed that. Thank you for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteHah! Actually, you make me wonder about the expressions I give my husband. I will practice a pleasant pout in the mirror, lest I wind up with a scowl like Ada's. :/
ReplyDeleteFunny and wisely done, enjoyed it :)
